Last year, when Hannah had the day off after her 1st Communion, I had to grade papers all day, plus I was very sick and badly sunburned. I felt bad for her to waste her day off laying on the couch watching T.V. with a very boring mom. So, we picked up lunch and headed to the park to eat and play a little tennis.
This year, I'm not sick, I'm not badly sunburned, and I don't have papers that need grading right this minute. I had planned to take Emily to the park for lunch and tennis too (since it is a BEAUTIFUL day today), but after raking in the money yesterday at her party, she wanted to go shopping. She bought herself a skateboard that she saw while shopping with Uncle Ed and a camera (a child after my own heart!), a camera bag, and an SD card. And, she still has plenty of money left over.
After shopping for a couple of hours (we drove around looking for the cheapest decent camera), we ate at Wendy's.

While at Toys R Us, Emily showed me this dog that she said Uncle Ed threw at her while they were shopping on Saturday...she said it almost knocked her down when it hit her. I can't imagine how that might be...

When we got home, we played with our cameras and her skateboard.

After completing this "trick" she said, "And I've only had this skateboard one day!"
Amazing. ;-) I say that, but I tried the skateboard myself and it's not as easy as it looks!
Today was a great respite for me and the kid. I can hardly wait for the next 19 school days to fly by!

So fun! You will love these memories and be so glad that you took the time to make them special- and so will she! By the way- I have 27 days left!
Now I know why Emily has her own blog.
Make sure when you visit Emily's blog to leave her a comment! And yep, we started her a blog to showcase her pictures. I'm sure Hannah will have one soon too!
