Emily's Special Day

As everyone knows (but needs recording), today was Emily's 1st Communion.

She wore a dress we bought at JC Penny. I think she kind of felt bad for having me buy the dress rather than make it, and I have to admit there was a part of me that was disappointed, but overall, I was a bit relieved. These last 2 weeks have been overwhelming with running the kids everywhere, getting the house ready, and trying to keep my grades up to date. So, buying the dress took one thing off my list of things to do.

She also wore Hannah's veil.

She was very excited for today. She even woke up early and the first thing she said was, "It's my 1st Communion!" And she bugged me ALL morning to put her dress on. As we pulled it out of the bag, she said, "Ooohh so pretty!" and I knew then that I made the right choice of buying her this dress.

Even Hannah seemed excited for Emily. When Emily and I returned this morning from getting her hair cut (and picking up a few things I forgot to buy like shoes to go with her dress), Hannah said, "Oh my gosh Emily; your hair is so cute!"

Hannah had to sit patiently saving a pew for family.

Her class before Mass...

I had trouble maintaining my composure several times during the Mass. She just looked so cute and sweet and innocent...and she's my baby and she's growing up.

During the Mass she had a special job of putting the cloth over the altar table.

Patrick was kind enough to take these pictures during the Mass and I'm very thankful to have them.

The hardest part of the whole ceremony for me was when they were singing. I know when she gets married I will cry non-stop...

(again, thanks to Patrick for taking those pictures)
Me and my girl...

Me and both my girls...

My cute family (if I do say so myself!)

Godfather, Uncle Ed

Grandma Heckle

Daddy and Emily

Aunt Sue

The Wright family
(this is the only picture I have of the Wright family with Emily where Emily isn't giving Mya bunny ears!)

Aunt Jo

The Moell family

The whole family (Durbins included) came back to the house for food. It was hectic but fairly enjoyable.
Tomorrow, Emily and I have the day off and we are both hoping it doesn't rain all day so we can play some tennis.
