Summer Picnic #2

Today we had a little impromptu picnic in the backyard.

It was just too nice of a day to stay inside all day, so we took our picnic blanket (that's what we call it) and found a shady spot outside.

After we ate, we played around with the camera.

And then Hannah and Emily started playing with my camera

And then we just sat back and enjoyed our view

Another movie

Today I took Hannah and Emily and one neighborhood friend to see Rio at the cheap theater.

It was a cute movie and made for a simple way to pass the afternoon.

Why do I buy them things

like beds when they would rather sleep on the floor

(blurry picture because I didn't want to use the flash for fear that I would wake them! Plus, the room is too small to use my 50mm)

under something like this:

For the past several nights, Hannah and Emily have been sleeping on the floor in a make-shift tent/fort that they created under Emily's loft bed. I'm not sure how this can be remotely comfortable, but they seem to like it, so I let them sleep there hoping it will be one of those things they remember doing from their childhoods.

Is my kid a dork

if she says, "They are advertising an amusement park. What they should be advertising are the Native American burial grounds in Sandusky, Ohio" after hearing a commercial for Cedar Point on the radio. Hannah then proceeded to tell me all about the Sandusky Indians and how the Shawnee Indians came and pushed them out (the Shawnee, who Hannah says, "are the fiercest and meanest of the tribes").

Does this make her a dork? ;-)

Movie Day

On Tuesday, I took Hannah and Emily to the cheap theater (tickets were only $1.75 each) to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2.

At the end of the show, I took our pictures. Take #1, not so successful.

Take #2, much better!

Hannah's hair cut

On Saturday, May 28th, Hannah donated her hair to locks of love for the 2nd time. You can revisit her 1st time here.

She had been bugging me for a while to get her hair cut, and now that the weather is getting warmer, I agreed that it was time.

Starting off, she didn't look so thrilled... (this is what she looked like in the mirror). I mean, she has been growing her hair out for almost 2 years...

But, she looks sooo cute with her shorter hair. When the hairdresser let her out of the seat, she came running at me saying, "I just love my bangs Mom!"

After that, we had lunch at the nearby Panera (Emily was at a Brownies function).

Hannah wanted me to take a picture of her cookie...

And that's that! I am very proud of her for doing this twice. She even said, "Mom it's a shame that people just waste their hair when there are other kids out there wishing they had some."

Pictures of Sadie!

Today, Sue let me practice taking pictures of Sadie. I've never taken newborn pictures before so I wanted to see what it was like. Well...Sadie was awesome! She rarely fussed and pretty much cooperated for the two hours I was there. Me on the other hand? I was a nervous wreck! I didn't realize how out of practice I am at handling newborns. But, for once, I'm going to say, these pictures aren't half bad!! ;-) Of course, there are things I would do differently next time, but I'm pretty happy with the way most of these turned out.

I still have more to edit...especially of Mya and Sadie together (cloning out Sue's hand is near impossible!!)...but I wanted to share what I have completed so far.

Hope you like them!!
