The Fork--Take One

Last night I attended the third and final showing of Beauty and the Beast (that would be 9 hours of viewing pleasure for me). I tried to capture a little bit of Hannah's few minutes of spotlight, but I don't have a great video camera of my own. In this video, she is standing on the stairs, holding a stack of books, acting as a "bookcase" ( as she put it).

I have another clip I'll try to share in another post; I couldn't get it to upload in this one.

Beauty and the

Fork!

That's Hannah as a fork in her Beauty and the Beast play. Her opening night was last night and she performed well! She has spent a great deal of time (especially during this past week) preparing for this play. When she originally tried out, she wanted to be Chip, you know, the little tea cup, but she wasn't chosen for that role. I am proud of her for forging ahead anyway. Some of her other friends dropped out of the play when they didn't get the parts they wanted.
She complained often about having to hold this stack of books. She told me she didn't sign up to be a bookcase!
It was cute to watch her onstage doing what she enjoys. I'm just glad that rushing her to and from play practice is now OVER! ;-)

I wasn't going to show you this

but I guess I will.

So, I'm starting my 7th week of P90X, and I've been working really hard. Last week, my energy was nonexistant (probably because I did too much the week before). I mean, my eyes hurt by 2:30 in the afternoon. I struggled and struggled and struggled to stay awake, sometimes successful, sometimes not. (One day, I just laid on the front porch and slept). But, I still got up every morning and worked out. I still ate well.

So, I took a picture this morning. I think I might see a change...it's small (and still disgusting), but I think it's there. I don't think people who only see me in my clothes will notice a difference, but I'm wondering if this program may be starting to work...
The bottoms even felt loose today, like maybe I needed to tighten them. I don't know. It's still pretty gross when I bend over (my stomach that is), but I think maybe, just maybe, I'm finally headed in the right direction. People who have completed the program have said that the biggest changes come in the last 30 days. In 2 more weeks, I'll be in the last 30 days.
Crossing my fingers...

Chillin' like villans!

That's what we are doing today--just hanging around the house doing nothing, really.

But right now, the people who went to work today at my school, are saying good-bye to all the heathens as they rush out the door.

But for me, who didn't go to work today because her children are on spring break and needed a babysitter, well, I'm listening to Hannah chew her ham and cheese sandwich as she tells me she is going "to be a changed woman" after reading her Junie B. book, and staring out the window into my backyard (Emily is down stairs, still in her pajamas, watching TV).

Yep, sometimes it's nice to just be chillin' like a villain!

Easter Morning

No matter how many times we do it, I still get excited on Easter morning. It's kind of like a little Christmas morning.

The Easter Bunny brought htem these Wimpy Kid T-shirts on which they can write their own sayings.

And, of course, the solid chocolate Easter Bunny is always a favorite.
After munching on candy for awhile, we are off to Grandma Heckle's!
Happy Easter Morning!!

Don't hate me...

but it's 2:45 p.m. and here is what I have been doing for the past couple of hours:

enjoying the fresh fragrance of these beauties

and acting like a kid again

all in this fabulously warm, breezy spring day!

I thought about cleaning and grading papers and making lesson plans, but then I thought, "Heck, it's my spring break, for crying out loud. There's plenty of time next week to stress about my job and grade papers. I'm going to give myself a break!"

And so I did! (if it makes you feel better, I feel a bit dizzy from all that swinging and spinning around! ;-))

Happy spring everyone!
