They were right...for once!

We finally got snow and lots of it! The girls and I found ourselves with a sort-of mini spring break. Four days off from school has been a wonderful reprieve. I know it hasn't been that long since we had 2 weeks off for Christmas, but there is just something hard about teaching during the winter...at least for me, anyway. During the winter months, I struggle to drag myself out of the house every day. Maybe it has something to do with the lack of sunshine...don't know, but I just want to hibernate and each year it gets harder and harder.

But, thanks to this snow, the girls finally got to use their snowsuits and boots and hats and gloves, and boy did they play. The were out there in the snow for up to 4 hours a day (not consecutive, mind you) having a great time with their friends sledding on our hill (yet one more reason I am soooooooo happy we live here!).
And, thanks to the snow, I got my first opportunity to use my new telephoto lens Ray bought me for Christmas.

I made them pose on Tuesday before they even began playing.
Here they are with Samantha (the girl who lives directly across the street)

After sledding down the hill, Hannah was stopped by a bunch of branches and was happy she didn't crash.

They both found themselves face-down in the snow on several occasions...

I had a better one of Hannah with the snow caked to her eyelashes and eyebrows, but there was also spit (or maybe even snot) all over her chin...kinda took the "cute" out of the picture!

Then they started going down the hill on one sled...

That worked until both Hannah and Emily ended up hurt on separate occasions. Riding together was banned until they figured out a new way of going down the hill together...

on their butts! They even named this path "The Butt Slide."

After getting bored of this, they started going down "The Butt Slide" on their stomachs.
After a while they grew tired of climbing back up the hill, so they would come in and play in the basement. Once their snow stuff was warm and dry, they would go out and play some more.
Overall, I am so happy that we got these four days of bliss. The kids played their little hearts out and I got some grading and lots of lots of housework done. I can't wait until the next big storm!
